Chief Michael Sullivan, who continues to make his $270,000 annual salary while on suspension, was to have a hearing on 19 charges in January and then again on Wednesday, according to lohud.com, which reports that the new date has been scheduled for Feb. 22.
Sullivan, who faces a variety of accusations including insubordination, allowing improper surveillance operations and destroying potential evidence, is facing the charges through a departmental hearing officer as opposed to a court of law, according to lohud.com.
While denying the accusations, Sullivan has claimed to be a victim of politics and has filed a lawsuit against the town seeking to return to his position and have the departmental charges dismissed.
During his current hearing, Sullivan is facing 19 charges accusing him of destroying potential evidence, according to lohud.com, which reported that he could, at some point, face an additional 22 charges brought against him by the town.
