That's because the New City resident, who has owned his Nanuet store for 36 years with his wife BeBe, knows his customers like his store's personal service and wide array of merchandise.
He said his father and uncles -- all self-made men -- always told him to treat customers the way you want to be treated. They also taught him the value of a customer over a sale. "A customer will stay with you for life while a sale is a fleeting moment of what they got that day," he said.
It's why Pet Nutrition Center is known as "Rockland's oldest pet store."
Dog items drive the backbone of his business -- Fazio said the majority of his customers are dog owners, followed by those looking for cat and small animal products.
Newish to the mix: chicken owners. This business, said Fazio, has increased tremendously over the last few years. "I've still yet to see an egg, though," he joked when talking about his chicken customers.
Another key to his success? Fazio said his employees are so knowledgeable and honest, many people come to them for advice. "There are times we undersell and talk them out of things they don't need," he said. "That’s the reputation we have."
Pet Nutrition Center is at 115 E Route 59, (845) 623-3214.
