Popular Supermarket Soon Moving To Bigger Location In Northern Westchester
A popular supermarket is moving to a larger nearby location later this summer in Northern Westchester. Long Island-based Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace plans to open a new location at the Yorktown Green Shopping Center at 329 Downing Drive in Yorktown Heights in August, representatives announced. The space, formerly housing Food Emporium, sat empty for more than 10 years until the specialty grocer began renovations. Turco's Sells Yorktown Grocery Store To Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace
The popular grocery store in Northern Westchester is going to have a new name and new owner, Turco's is about to become Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace, which operates six markets on Long Island and one in Bergen County. Preston Turco, who is retiring, has sold the store on Downing Drive in Yorktown Heights to the DelPrete family, which operates Uncle Giuseppe's. The new store will launch on Monday, Oct. 21. Man Charged After Stealing Pizza From Area Supermarket, Police Say
A 46-year-old man is facing a misdemeanor charge after allegedly stealing a pizza from a Northern Westchester grocery store. Officers from the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to Turco’s at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 26, for a report of a larceny. Investigation into the stolen pie - which was valued at $7 - determined that Yorktown resident Sidney Russ allegedly took the pizza without paying and proceeded to exit the store. Ossining Farm Competing For Nationwide Grant
OSSINING N.Y. -- An Ossining farm is hoping to be the choice of voters. Fable is one of the farms competing in PRO * ACT's Cultivating Change grant program. A total of $75,000 in funding will be awarded to local farms with the most votes through Jan. 31. Winners will be announced on Feb. 5. Fable is competing against more than 100 farms in 30 states for funding to invest in sustainability efforts and grow their overall capacity.
