With plenty of great weather on the horizon, authorities in Westchester are reminding residents to be careful while out on the water after rescuing a man from the Hudson River who fell from a disabled jet ski. The department announced on Friday, May 31, that the rescue happened over Memorial Day weekend in Yonkers. Officers from the Yonkers Police Marine Unit pulled a jetskier from the Hudson River. The driver of a tractor-trailer that was stuck on railroad tracks in the Hudson Valley was rescued by a police sergeant before the vehicle was hit by a train. The incident took place in Rockland County around 9:20 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 near the intersection of Route 9W and New Main Street in the town of Haverstraw, said Capt. A fast-acting police officer responding to a crash dragged an unconscious Rockland County driver to safety moments before the man's minivan went up in flames. The minivan had slammed into a utility pole in New Jersey, splitting it at the base, on East Saddle River Road south of Lake Street just after midnight Thursday, Upper Saddle River Police Capt. Fast-acting police officers in Westchester jumped to the rescue to help save an elderly man who thrust himself out of an apartment window in the middle of the day. First responders from the Harrison Police Department jumped into action at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28 when an elderly resident was spotted hanging out of an exterior window on the sixth floor of a town apartment building in an attempt to commit suicide. Police Rescue Westchester Woman Violently Attacked By Own Dogs
Fast-acting police officers worked quickly to rescue a woman who was attacked by her own dogs in Westchester. Officers from the New Rochelle Police Department responded to a 1st Street home early on Saturday, Sept. 26, where there was a report of an animal attack. Upon arrival, officers located the woman who was being attacked by five pit bulls outside her residence. Police said that the dogs were so relentless that they had to use their tasers on them to help rescue the woman, who suffered severe bites and lacerations during the attack.
