This story has been updated. A stretch of a busy main route in Northern Westchester is now open after a trailer separated from a truck and hit a retaining wall, police said. Route 6/202 (Goat Trail) between Route 9D and Route 9 in the town of Cortlandt is now open following a crash on Monday afternoon, April 29, according to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police. According to Hicks, the crash happened when a trailer loaded with sheetrock separated from a truck and slammed into a retaining wall along the roadway. Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder After Serious Assault In Hudson Valley
The identities of both the suspect and victim have been released following a serious assault at a storage facility in the area. The assault took place at the EZ Storage facility in Dutchess County around 8:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 on Route 9D in the town of Fishkill. The suspect, now identified as Jamal A. Alsayes, age 46, of Middletown, was taken into custody without incident when troopers arrived at the scene. Bus Carrying Inmates Becomes Engulfed In Flames In Hudson Valley
Screams filled the air as a bus carrying prisoners between correction facilities caught fire while traveling in the area. The crash took place around 7:45 p.m., Friday, Aug. 27 in Dutchess County on Route 9D by the overpass in Fishkill, said the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. The bus stopped and was safely evacuated, the department said. Nearly two dozen prisoners and corrections officers were onboard at the time of the fire. Women Who Stole Credit Cards From Cars Made Purchases In Four Counties, Authorities Say
Two women are facing felony larceny charges following a string of larcenies in Putnam County in which authorities say stolen credits were used to make purchases in four neighboring counties. The larcenies occurred in the towns of Philipstown, Putnam Valley and Kent, Putnam County Sheriff, Robert L. Langley Jr. said.
