Car Fire Nearly Spreads To Garage At Home In Chappaqua
Thanks to quick action from firefighters, a Northern Westchester home remained unscathed after a car burst into flames inside its garage. The blaze began on Tuesday, July 30, just before 7 p.m., when a vehicle went up in flames inside a Chappaqua residence on North Way, according to the Chappaqua Fire Department. Responding fire crews found smoke pouring from the home's garage and were able to knock out the flames inside the car. Fire Destroys Century-Plus Old Home In Northern Westchester
A Northern Westchester home built in the 1890s was destroyed overnight when a massive fire broke out, officials said. First responders from multiple agencies responded to a home on Bedford Road at 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in Pleasantville, when a fire was discovered by a New Castle Fire Marshal who was passing by in the area. According to officials from the Chappaqua Fire Department, crews were able to extinguish the bulk of the fire from the outside, but by the time they had, it had already spread to the inside of the structure. ID Released For Man Killed In Crash That Caused Hours-Long Saw Mill Parkway Closure
The driver who died in a crash on the Saw Mill River Parkway that closed the northbound lanes in Bedford Hills for hours has been identified. Robert Leff, 51, of the Baldwin Place section of Somers, died around 11:25 a.m. Thursday after crashing into a tree, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. Leff was traveling northbound in the vicinity of Green Lane when his Toyota Rav 4 left the roadway and struck a tree. Fire Destroys One School Bus, Damages Others In Northern Westchester
A bus was destroyed and two others damaged when a two-alarm fire ripped through a bus storage and repair garage in Yorktown Heights. The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation at 1701 Front St., according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. Ducklings Rescued From Drain In Mount Kisco
Westchester County Police came to the rescue of a pair of ducks stuck in a manhole in Mount Kisco. The right man was on patrol at the right time late last month, as Westchester County Police Officer Scott Forsythe - who happens to own ducks and chickens at his home - responded to a call on Main Street, where there were two ducklings trapped in a storm drain. MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - A woman had her keys stolen from a Mount Kisco health club after leaving her jacket in an untended locker while she worked out. A patron at a North Bedford Road health club reported on Tuesday, Jan. 16 to county police that someone took her car keys from her coat and stole multiple items from her car, including a wallet, credit cards, sunglasses and clothing.
