A blaze that ignited in the attic of a Northern Westchester residence proved to be a tough battle for firefighters thanks to gusty winds. The blaze began on Thursday, March 21 just after 1 p.m. at a residence in Buchanan, according to the Croton-on-Hudson and Millwood Fire Departments. Man Kills Victim After Being Evicted From His Westchester Apartment: Here's His Sentence
A 23-year-old man will spend decades in prison for fatally shooting his former roommate after he was evicted from his Westchester apartment where he had been living rent-free, officials said. Bronx resident William Pryor was sentenced to 25 years to life in state prison for murdering his 29-year-old friend and former roommate Marquis Muniz in 2022, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Friday, Dec. 8. Former Briarcliff Resident Burt Erickson Passes Away at 100
Burt Erickson, 100 years young, formerly of Briarcliff Manor and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2023 at the Veteran’s Association Nursing Home in Montrose, where he received wonderful care. Burt was born on March 8, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Frances and Burton Erickson. He was the oldest of three children. He was predeceased in death by his sister Gertrude “Trudie” Hodges and his brother Jerome “Jerry” Erickson. Burt married the love of his life Rita Marie Jerome on Dec. 27, 1952. Police have identified one of two men involved in an alleged armed carjacking of a taxi driver in Westchester County who was apprehended in Cortlandt. The incident took place around 3:13 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, when the Yonkers Police Department responded to the area of Elm Street and Walnut Street on a report of a robbery, said Yonkers Police Det. Funeral services have been scheduled for the 29-year-old Northern Westchester man who was struck and killed by a BMW when he exited his vehicle following a crash on I-87 in Rockland County. Nicholas Polao, of Cortlandt Manor, was struck at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16 on I-87 in Clarkstown. A 33-year old man has been sentenced to time behind bars after admitting to murdering a truck driver from Northern Westchester last year. Yonkers resident Heriberto Morales has been sentenced to 19 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering Timothy Conkling, a driver for a private carting company who was stepping out of his truck when he was shot in March 2018. A former social worker at a guidance center who was convicted of sexually abusing a patient incapable of consenting has reported a move in Westchester. Deer Attack: Parking Enforcement Officer Injured By Buck In Northern Westchester
A Northern Westchester parking enforcement officer has been hospitalized after being attacked by a deer on her property located on the Montrose/Verplanck border. According to Michael Preziosi, director of the town’s Department of Technical Services, the unidentified employee in Cortlandt was attacked at her private residence. He said the town wishes her a speedy recovery. The woman, who was attacked early last week, reportedly suffered numerous injuries, including a punctured lung and broken pelvis during the attack by the buck.

Car Crashes Into Storefront Of Busy Northern Westchester Market
A car drove into the storefront of a busy market early Thursday afternoon, sending shoppers scrambling in Northern Westchester. The incident took place around 12:08 p.m. when an elderly man drove into the front of Cole's Market at 2147 Albany Post Road in Montrose, said State Police spokesman AJ Hicks.
