Westchester Traffic Stop Leads To Large Heroin Seizure, Two Arrests, Police Say
Two Fairfield County men were busted with 1,250 folds of heroin during a traffic stop in Westchester County.
The men, Jahmar Palma, 30, and Michael Banks, 29, both of Norwalk, were arrested around noon following the stop on the Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
The incident began about noon when an officer stopped a car near North Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver initially pulled over but then drove away as officers were speaking with him, O'Leary said.

Two area men have been sentenced to prison in connection with the fentanyl overdose deaths of four people.
Frank Moss, aka "Jigga," a Poughkeepsie drug dealer who sold fentanyl to two women who later died, was sentenced to almost 22 years in prison, said Geoffrey S. Berman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
Arnold Melendez, aka "Frankie," another Poughkeepsie drug dealer, who sold fentanyl leading to the overdose deaths of two men, was sentenced to almost 16 years in prison, Berman said.

Westchester Trio Nabbed In Major Drug Ring Takedown
Three Westchester County men have been indicted on charges they operated a complex drug-dealing operation that sent tractor-trailer loads of drugs across the country.
Giovanny Arias, Victor Salazar, and Hector Maren, all of White plains, are three of 11 people indicted following a two-year investigation, said the Queens Acting District Attorney John Ryan.
According to the DA's office, the ring used long-haul truckers to transport carfentanil -- a substance 100 times more deadly than fentanyl -- in addition to heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, ketamine, and tramadol across the country.

Twenty-seven more arrests have been made, bringing the total to 49, as part of a lengthy investigation into heroin sales in Westchester, the Bronx, and Pennsylvania.
New Rochelle Capt. Cosmo Costa said that on Tuesday, Sept. 10, five search warrants were executed in Yonkers, the Bronx, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, as part of "Operation Red Smiley," leading to various charges for the suspects, one of whom remains at large.
