Brush Fire Breaks Out Near Busy Road In Hudson Valley A large brush fire near a busy Hudson Valley road sent plumes of smoke into the air before crews could put it out. The blaze happened in Putnam County on Tuesday afternoon, April 9 off Route 22 in Brewster, where a large brush fire ignited, Carmel fire officials said on Wednesday, April 17. The incident prompted a large response from the Brewster and Carmel Fire Departments and sent plenty of smoke into the air before it was eventually put out.  No injuries were reported.

Former Fire Chief Of Hudson Valley Department Dies A fire department in the Hudson Valley has announced the death of one of its former chiefs.  In a social media post on Sunday, Feb. 4, the Brewster Fire Department in Putnam County announced the death of former Chief and Commissioner Thomas Palmer.  Palmer led the department from 1996 to 1998, the department said.  More information about Palmer's death, including funeral arrangements, has not yet been announced.  This is a developing story. Tractor-Trailer Rollover Causes Hours-Long Lane Closure On I-84 Traffic is back up to speed on I-84 following an overnight tractor-trailer crash that closed the highway for hours. The crash took place around 10:25 p.m., Tuesday when a tractor-trailer lost control and overturned blocking the left-hand lane of I- 84 eastbound in Newburgh, said New York State Trooper AJ Hicks. An eastbound passenger vehicle, unable to avoid the wreckage, then struck the overturned tractor trailer. Both drivers received minor injuries, he added. Assisting on scene included Brewster firefighters and EMStar paramedics.
