Continuing with our profiles of Chappaqua Central School District Elementary Schools, we're taking an in-depth look at the Roaring Brook Elementary School.


Walking around the halls of Roaring Brook Elementary School, you'll see an abundance of gold and blue, the school colors. RBy the Lion may even walk by on his way to a pep rally.


Roaring Brook Elementary School was build on 25 acres of land in Chappaqua and opened its doors for the first time in 1951. Inside are 31 classrooms, a cafeteria, computer lab, library, and a gymnasium that also acts as an auditorium.


Roaring Brook is located on the highest elevation in Chappaqua, which makes it the ideal place to host the emergency communications system for Chappaqua.


In 2010, 503 students in kindergarten through fourth grade called Roaring Brook Elementary School home from 9:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The average classroom size is 21 students.


As for test scores, all Roaring Brook Elementary School students made adequate yearly progress in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science according to the accountability measures set by Albany.



80% of 3rd graders made at or above a level 3 on end of grade testing in English Language Arts and 80% made at or above a level 3 in Mathematics. 86% of fourth graders made at or above a level 3 in English Language Arts, 97% made at or above a level three in Mathematics and 100% made at or above a level three in Science.
