CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – The New Castle Town Board wasted no time in its first meeting of the new year last night, appointing Noah Sorkin to interim town judge and Alan Sash to town prosecutor. Both agreed to contracts that are effective immediately and run through Dec. 31, 2013, at which time they will be reevaluated.
Sorkin will be filling the void left by former New Castle Town Judge David Zuckerman, who was recently elected to be a Westchester County judge. Sorkin will be paid $26,500.
Sash, who will deal with non-criminal violations such as noise complaints and traffic violations, said he is excited about his new position.
“I am humbled and honored by the appointment and look forward to serving the residents of New Castle,” he said.
The Town Board made quick work of additional housekeeping throughout the meeting, reappointing Elise Kessler Mottel, an elected councilwoman, to Deputy Supervisor; and reappointing Town Administrator Penny Paderewski. Both were in attendance last night at the New Castle Town Hall.
