Widespread Flooding, Road Closures Reported As Potent Storm Drenches Capital Region A potent, late autumn storm is bringing flooding and road closures to parts of the region. Flood watches or warnings are up for the entire Capital Region with rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches expected through Monday night, Dec. 18, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. Higher rainfall accumulations are expected on east and southeast-facing slopes of the eastern Catskills. In Albany County, a flood warning is up for the Mohawk River at Cohoes, where minor flooding is expected after midnight as the river crests just above its flood stage of 20 feet. Woman Dies In Early Morning House Fire In Wynantskill A woman has died following an early morning house fire in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, with reports of a Wynantskill home on fire on Bellemead Street, according to the Wynantskill Fire Department. By the time firefighters arrived, two adults had escaped the home without injury after being woken up by smoke detectors, officials said. Man Killed In Industrial Accident In Grafton Remembered As 'Friend You Could Count On' Friends and loved ones are mourning the loss of a man who was killed in an on-the-job accident at a rock quarry in the region. Rensselaer County resident Darren Miller, of Grafton, died Saturday, Oct. 1, at the age of 35, according to his obituary.  State police said Miller was working at R.J. Valente Gravel in Grafton at around 8:15 a.m. when a piece of equipment fell and struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
