Overturned Kayaker Rescued By Tour Boat, Firefighters In Region An overturned kayaker was rescued from the waters of the Hudson River by a tour boat and firefighters. The incident occurred in Dutchess County around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, near Dennings Point and Long Dock Park. According to the Beacon Professional Firefighters, IAFF L-Beacon Fire Units, Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, Ambulnz, New Hamburg Fire, and the City of Newburgh firefighters with their boats were dispatched for an overturned kayak with the victim in the water.  Firefighters responded to Dennings Point and Long Dock Park to locate the victim, who was seen in the water.…

Tragedy Averted: Couple Pulled From Burning RV On Capital Region Highway An elderly couple are lucky to be alive after finding themselves trapped in a burning RV on the side of the Thruway. The Greene County incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, on I-87 in the town of Catskill. State Police said a motorhome was towing a Jeep when it experienced a mechanical failure that ignited a fire. When troopers arrived, they found the RV on the right shoulder fully engulfed in flames. Hero Who Saved Man, Pet From Rensselaer County Fire As Teen Dies At Age 36: 'A True Friend' Friends and loved ones are mourning the death of a man from the region who was once hailed as a hero for saving another man’s life. Rensselaer County resident Jacob Waldron, of Rensselaer, died in May 2023 at the age of 36, according to his obituary. An exact date and cause of death was not given. “It is with great sadness that Jake’s family announces the unexpected death of their beloved son and brother,” reads his memorial. 'Cold, Hungry, Thirsty': Lost Students Rescued Hours After Bus Leaves Them In Adirondacks Two college students in New York had to be rescued by state Forest Rangers after getting left behind in the woods of the Adirondacks while on a day retreat. Emergency crews in Warren County were called at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, with reports that two students were lost near Dippikill Pond, located about 10 miles northwest of the town of Warrensburg. The incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18 on the Piscataqua River, near Little Harbor, about 60 miles north of Boston.
