A Rensselaer County woman standing on the tracks was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train in the region. Linda Ryan, age 69, of Rensselaer, was struck around 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10 in the city of Rensselaer. Deputy Police Chief John Mooney of the Rensselaer Police said Ryan was standing on the tracks in the area of South Street and Second Avenue when she was struck and killed. The Rensselaer County incident happened Sunday, Nov. 26, in Rensselaer, at the Kinwood Apartments located on Chase Drive. According to Rensselaer Police, the boy walked into Albany Medical Center Hospital at around 7:45 p.m. with an apparent gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation found that he had accidentally shot himself. Robert Fisher, age 33, of Rensselaer, was indicted for second-degree murder and first-degree rape by a Rensselaer County grand jury on Friday, July 28. According to prosecutors, emergency crews were called to a Rensselaer home near Broadway and Tracy Street on Friday, July 7, for a young girl who wasn’t breathing.
