A sheriff in New York is crediting recent jailhouse security upgrades for busting an inmate who allegedly tried smuggling in razor blades. The stomach-churning discovery was made Wednesday, March 20, inside the Albany County jail in Albany. Sheriff Craig Apple said the inmate was returning to the facility after pleading guilty to a weapon possession charge when he went through a body scanner meant to detect dangerous contraband. A woman’s attempt at smuggling drugs into a jail in the region for her inmate boyfriend ended with both of them facing criminal charges, police said. The incident happened Thursday, July 13, at the Saratoga County jail, according to sheriff’s officials. Caylee Ringer, age 26, of Salem in Washington County, was arrested at the jail after deputies discovered that she was allegedly trying to sneak suboxone into the facility. A corrections officer has been arrested on multiple felonies after allegedly smuggling in contraband for inmates at a Hudson Valley jail. Ulster County resident Felicia Waithe, age 28, of Kingston, was arrested at home Wednesday, July 12, following an investigation by sheriff’s officials. According to deputies, Waithe worked as a probationary corrections officer at the Ulster County jail in Kingston. Woman Busted Bringing Drugs To Upstate NY Jail, State Police Say
A 35-year-old woman was allegedly busted bringing drugs into a Hudson Valley correctional facility. The incident took place at the Ulster County Correctional Facility in Wawarsing on Sunday, Feb. 12. According to Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police, Suffolk County resident Julie Tate of Holtsville was visiting the jail when she was found in possession of 29 strips of buprenorphine and approximately 6.8 grams of synthetic cannabinoids. A man from the Capital District who was already behind bars is facing additional charges after he was allegedly caught with drugs. Rensselaer County jail inmate Tyrone Harris, age 32, of Troy, was arrested following an investigation by a correctional officer on Thursday, Aug. 18, sheriff’s officials said. Schenectady Woman Accused Of Attempting To Bring Contraband Into Prison
A woman from the region was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into a prison. The arrest took place in Washington County in the town of Comstock on Saturday, April 23. New York State Police were called to the Washington Correctional Facility for a report of a visitor attempting to bring contraband into the facility, said Trooper Kerra Burns.
