Man Killed In Crash With Tractor-Trailer In Region Police are investigating after a 74-year-old Connecticut man was killed during a two-vehicle crash in the Hudson Valley. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at the intersection of Route 22 and Route 55 in the town of Dover, a hamlet of Wingdale, around 3:45 p.m., Thursday, June 13. According to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, a 2010 Chevrolet pickup was on Route 55 preparing to enter traffic on northbound Route 22 when it pulled into the path of a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer. 90 Cats Rescued From 'Deplorable' Home In Region Police are investigating after 90 cats were in poor health and deplorable living conditions in a home in the region. Dutchess County Sheriff's Office members discovered the cats at a home in Dover on Saturday, May 4. According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the home for a report of animal cruelty. Upon investigation, 90 cats were in poor health and were rescued by deputies and volunteer animal rescue workers. Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary assisted the sheriff's office at the scene and will provide medical care. This investigation is ongoing. T…

Woman From Region Dies In House Fire Trying To Save Cats A 46-year-old woman died in a house trailer fire in the region, reportedly attempting to save her cats. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 125 Reagans Mill Road in Dover around 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 25. According to Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, Ellen R. Travis of Dover, died as a result of the fire and was pronounced dead at the scene. "At this time, her death does not appear to be criminal in nature," Watterson said. Child Porn Arrest: Man From Region Nabbed By State Police Following Tip A man was charged with two counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child after New York State Police received a tip. Dutchess County resident Charles Beisser, age 61, of Dover, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 6. According to Trooper AJ Hicks, of the New York State Police, the department received a tip setting off an investigation that determined Beisser was in possession of child pornography. Beisser was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Dover Court on Monday, Nov.13.

Dutchess County resident Noah Michael Thompson, age 17, of Amenia, died Friday, Feb. 10, at Sharon Hospital in Litchfield County, Connecticut, after falling through the ice at the Taconic State Park in the village of Millerton, located in the Town of North East.  Noah was a high school student at Webutuck High School in Amenia and was expecting to graduate this spring, according to his obituary.
