Man From Region Slashes Barber, Cuts Own Throat, Police Say
A man from the region is behind bars after allegedly slashing a barber numerous times with a knife and then cutting his own throat on a local street.
The incident occurred in Ulster County in the 600 block of Broadway at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in Kingston.
According to Chief Egidio Tinti of the Kingston Police, Gunercindo Diaz-Diaz, age 41 of Kingston, was spotted by a New York State Trooper with a knife to his neck on a city street.
The trooper pulled over and tried to talk Diaz-Diaz out of harming himself, but he cut his neck, causing a minor injury, Tinti said.

A former corrections officer is facing years behind bars for attempting to bring a so-called ghost gun into a business in the region.
Timothy Feldman, age 22, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in Saratoga County Court on Tuesday, Oct. 17, stemming from an arrest in July 2023.
According to prosecutors, a bouncer at a Saratoga Springs bar caught Feldman, a former Schoharie County Corrections Officer, with a gun as he entered the business early on July 23, 2023.

Man From Region Indicted For Shooting Woman Sitting On Front Porch
A man from the region has been indicted for the attempted murder of a woman who was sitting on her porch when six shots were fired.
Ulster County resident Corey Marshall, age 34, of Kingston, was indicted by an Ulster County Grand Jury on Tuesday, Oct. 3 for the felonies of attempted murder, assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
According to the Ulster County District Attorney, the indictment stems from a shooting that took place in the Town of Esopus on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.

24-Year-Old Admits Killing Postal Worker In Albany Shooting
Ten months after a young postal worker was shot to death in the region, his killer has confessed.
Laquan Fallen, age 24, of Albany, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Albany County Court on Tuesday, Aug. 8, for fatally shooting 24-year-old Czsar Lewis.
According to prosecutors, the two were in Albany near Central Avenue and Robin Street on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, when Fallen shot Lewis with a handgun. He was legally prohibited from having the weapon at the time.

Demar Reinfurt, age 43, was found guilty of multiple felonies by a Schenectady County jury on Thursday, July 6, in connection with the March 2020 attack inside his Schenectady apartment.

The brother of a United State Army sergeant from the Hudson Valley who was indicted for the murder of a father of two has now been charged in connection to that crime.
Orange County resident Junando Dawkins, age 29, of Newburgh, was apprehended at the US Army base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, this past March and charged with the death of Daniel Spotards, age 41, whose body was found in Ulster County at the end of his driveway by a sanitation worker in the Town of Plattekill on Monday, Jan. 2.
