Albany County Legislator Zach Collins is asking Gov. Kathy Hochul to approve construction of a new exit on I-87 in the town of Coeymans. In a letter sent to Hochul’s office Thursday, Dec. 14, Collins said increased industrial traffic regularly clogs State Routes 143 and 144, “causing significant quality of life issues for residents in Coeymans and Ravena.” Because of the town’s location, large commercial vehicles must use the state routes to reach Thruway exits 22 to the north and 21B to the south. “The large amount of truck…

Schenectady Man Busted For Driving High On Drugs With Child In Vehicle, Police Say A man from the Capital District is facing charges after he was allegedly busted driving high on drugs with a child in the car. Troopers stopped Schenectady resident Derrick Hill, age 50, Monday evening, June 27, on I-87 in the town of Coeymans for a vehicle and traffic violation, according to New York State Police. It was determined that he was impaired by drugs and had a revoked license, police said. He also had a 3-year-old child in the vehicle. Teen Apprehended After Fleeing From Troopers In Coeymans, State Police Say A teenager was arrested in the region after attempting to flee from police in a stolen vehicle during a chase that started in Albany County and ended in Greene County. In Albany County, state police troopers on patrol shortly before 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 received a report of a stolen vehicle that was traveling south on I-87 in the town of Coeymans.
