Tornado Touched Down In NY For Only Second Time Ever In February: Here's Where
A tornado touched down in New York during a potent storm packed with damaging gusty winds accompanying a cold front last week, the National Weather Service has announced. A damage survey determined the timing to be around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28 in Broome County about 10 miles north of Binghamton in the hamlet of Castle Creek. It had an estimated maximum wind speed of 100 miles per hour. The tornado tracked 0.61 miles, with a width of 150 yards. Funeral Details Released For 5 NY Women Struck Dead On I-81 In PA (

Funeral details and a statement from the family have been released after five women returning from Umrah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia were killed on Interstate 81 on Tuesday evening, Jan. 16. The women "were on their way back home from the Dulles airport," their family told Daily Voice. They were struck dead by a tractor-trailer at the 199.3-mile marker in Scott Township, approximately 12 miles north of Scranton, troopers detailed in a release. Update: A New York man who had been missing for two weeks has been found. New York State Police said Donald L. Eldred was last seen in the Chenango County village of Oxford, located about 30 miles north of Binghamton. A convicted sex offender from the region with a history of abusing young children is facing decades in prison for attempting to coerce a 10-year-old for sex. Rensselaer County resident Charles Wager, age 55, of the village of Castleton-on-Hudson in the town of Schodack, was found guilty of attempting to entice a minor into engaging in unlawful sexual activities in federal court in Utica on Thursday, Feb. 2. An Albany man wanted out of several jurisdictions tried to run from police after they stopped his car on a roadway in New Jersey and found him carrying a gun, authorities said. Ammar Ali, 33, was driving a 2002 Honda Civic that was stopped in Bergen County on the southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, PIP Police Lt. Raymond E.
