Only A Drill: 'Active Threat' Training Held At University In Westchester With many students home for the holidays, several emergency agencies from across Westchester were able to hold active threat training on a university campus in the county.  The training exercise was held at New Rochelle's Iona University on Monday, Dec. 23, according to the Yonkers Police Department.  The "realistic simulation" allowed officers to "hone their skills and practice interagency coordination in a critical incident," the department said on social media. The department also posted photos from the exercise taken inside university classrooms.

Man Hospitalized After Bike Hits Car Driving Through Intersection In Yonkers A 65-year-old man was taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle collision at a Westchester intersection.  The crash happened in Yonkers on Thursday, Nov. 7 just before 5:30 p.m., when a car traveling through the intersection of Wakefield and Woodlawn Avenues on a green light was struck by a bicycle, according to Yonkers Police Sergeant Robert Spink.  Spink said the bicyclist reported pain in his leg and hand and was taken to a nearby hospital.  The vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene.
