Police Officer In Hudson Valley Charged With Stalking A police officer from the Hudson Valley was charged with stalking. State Police arrested 53-year-old Orange County resident Kenneth Memmelaar, of Goshen, in Montgomery on Monday, Sept. 12, New York State Police reported. Memmelaar was charged with fourth-degree stalking in relation to "a series of incidents reported to State Police in Middletown," according to the report. 21-Year-Old Woman Killed In Hit-Run Hudson Valley Crash, Police Say Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash on a roadway in the region. It happened around 12:45 a.m. Saturday, July 9 in Orange County on Route 52 in the town of Montgomery, between Belair Road and Harts Lane. An initial investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling westbound when it struck a battery powered bicycle (e-bike) that was being operated by Jaleek Johnson, age 21, from Walden in Orange County, state police said. Police Issue Alert On Checks Being Stolen From Mailboxes In Hudson Valley Police are alerting residents in the region about a string of mail and check thefts from mailboxes. The Town of Montgomery Police Department reported on Tuesday, May 10, that the issue has been reported in a number of jurisdictions in Orange and Dutchess counties. "Checks are being stolen and mobile deposited in various banks," the department said.  The department encouraged residents and businesses to avoid having checks delivered by mail or left in the mailbox. Police said anyone whose mail and/or checks are stolen should contact their local police department.
