Ronnie Morris, 38, of Monticello, was indicted for aggravated cruelty to animals by a Sullivan County grand jury on Friday, March 7. An investigation found that Morris abandoned his 2-year-old pit bull, Nala, in a vacant house without electricity while locked in a crate, according to the Sullivan County DA’s office. Dog Found Tied To Tree, Left Overnight In Westchester Park A pit bull puppy left tied to a tree over the span of a night in Westchester County was saved by police.  On Sunday, Feb. 26, police in Yonkers responded to Smith O’Hara Levine Park behind Wolffe Street after they were notified about the puppy.  There, they found the pit bull tied to a tree. It was likely that the dog was stuck there for the entirety of the night before, according to Yonkers Police.  After finding the poor animal and freeing it, police then took it to the Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter. NY Woman Killed By Her Own Dog In Backyard Attack A 70-year-old New York woman was killed by the family's 100-pound pit bull that was later killed by police. The Long Island incident took place in the hamlet of Albertson in North Hempstead on Wednesday, July 27 around 1:20 p.m. in the backyard of a home on Terrace Court. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said during a news conference the woman's husband came home and found the dog attacking his wife in the backyard. The incident took place in Yonkers around midnight on Monday, June 20.
