The New York State Department of State is looking for volunteers to take part in the first annual “Caring for Your Cemetery Day,” on Saturday, April 27. Organizers said the idea is to raise awareness of the hard work and dedication that goes into caring for and preserving cemeteries, especially heading into the spring season. Westchester Native, Harrison High Class of '45, Korean Vet, John P. Witzel, 90 John P. Witzel of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 1. John was born in Manhattan on Dec. 6, 1928 and later moved to Harrison. He attended Harrison High School, graduating in the class of 1945, and continued on to Columbia University where he graduated in 1949.  John served overseas during the Korean War and, upon return home, he worked for the Bendix Corporation and later in the family business, Witzel Brothers Inc. John was musically gifted and played the piano, organ and accordion. John was predeceased by his parents, George M. Witzel and Lillian Beck…
