A 43-year-old man will spend years behind bars for hitting and killing a beloved community member in Westchester with his truck while under the influence of drugs, officials announced. Police To Increase Patrols, Sobriety Checks In NY For St. Patrick's Day Weekend: Hochul
Ahead of celebrations for St. Patrick's Day weekend, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced that authorities will be cracking down on drunk and drug-impaired driving. As part of the effort to catch those who choose to drive while impaired, New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies will increase patrols and sobriety checkpoints across the state beginning on Friday, March 15, and continuing into Sunday, March 17, Hochul announced. Seeing Green: NY State Police Steps Up DWI Driving Enforcement
The enforcement and prevention campaign, aptly held on Thursday, April 20, announced that the state police will be stepping up patrols to target drug-impaired driving. The New York State Police announced in a statement that statewide, the campaign is aiming to train over 100 more officers using the Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) training program, administered by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. State Trooper Suffers Opioid Exposure After Overdose Crash On NY Highway, Police Say
A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized for possible opioid exposure while responding to a suspected overdose crash on a state highway. State Police on Long Island were initially called at around 1:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, with reports of an erratic driver in Hempstead, heading southbound on the Wantagh State Parkway near Hempstead Turnpike. When troopers arrived, they found the vehicle disabled after a crash.
