Section One Players in Big City Lacrosse Classic

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Section 1 lacrosse will be represented Sunday in the 2012 Konica Minolta Big City Classic at MetLife Stadium.

The three men’s games scheduled are sixth-ranked Notre Dame playing St. John’s, 1 p.m., followed by No. 14 Syracuse against No. 7 Duke, 4 p.m. The final game features top-ranked Johns Hopkins facing off against 11th-ranked North Carolina, 6:30 p.m.

Johns Hopkins has four area players in Yorktown’s John Ranagan and Kevin Interlicchio, Mike Daniello of John Jay-Cross River and Somers’ Eddie Schurr.

Rye resident Kieran McDonald is a defensive midfielder for North Carolina.

JoJo Marasco, a Somers’ graduate, and John Jay-Cross River’s Kevin Drew are major contributors for Syracuse. Marasco, an attackman/midfielder, is second on the Orangemen in scoring, with six goals and 10 assists. Drew, a midfielder, has four goals.

Bronxville’s Jack Near is a freshman midfielder for Notre Dame, and Section 1 is represented on St. John’s with defenseman and Somers’ graduate John Bello and midfielder Ryan Fitzgerald of Cortlandt Manor.
