Bronxville Girls Run New Balance Indoor Nationals

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Bronxville girls’ indoor track team competed at the New Balance Indoor National Championships at the New York City Armory Friday, Saturday and Sunday and set several individual, relay and school record times.

Mary Cain, the two-time New Yotk State and indoor track champion, placed second overall in the seeded 800-meter run final placing second overall with a time of 2:07.26 to qualfiy as an All-American. Cain holds the school 800-meter record.

Meredith Rizzo followed Cain with a time of 2:15.11 in the Championship 800 Meters to set the third-best time in Bronxville High School track history and 19th place in the national meet.

Caroline Muir recorded a time of 8:23.46 for 25th place overall while setting a new school record in the one mile race walk. Muir eclipsed Margaret Duggan’s previous school record time of 8:30.26 set in 2002.

The relay team of Delia Hayes (2:28.2), Nicola Phillips (2:28.4), Argentina Chrappa (2:31.8) and Hilary Rizzo (2:23.9) ran a combined 9:52.68  for 24th overall in the Emerging Elite 4x800 Meter Relay.

The Championship Distance Medley relay team of Courtney Campbell, Lucy Kohlhoff, Emilie Hoffer and Meredith Rizzo each ran personal record times for 10th place in 12:10.13, which was an all-time section 1 record and fifth best time in New York State this year.

Courtney Campbell (2:18.9), Emilie Hoffer (2:22.1), Amelia Phillips (2:28.1) and Hilary Rizzo (2:19.2) placed 14th in the Championship 4x800 Meter Relay in a time of 9:28.61 with Rizzo running a personal record and second best all-time leg for an eighth grader.
