BRONXVILLE, N.Y. Susan Miele calls her new post as executive director of the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce serendipitous since she has spent the past several years serving the Westchester community.
Its almost like volunteering for the community, said Miele, who is also a member of the Tuckahoe Union Free School District's Parent Teacher Association and longtime organizer of the annual Halloween party in Eastchester's Chester Heights.
She said she is excited to use her new position as a means to inform Bronxville residents of sales, new business openings and upcoming community events.
On Thursday, the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce will have the latest installment of its outdoor summer concert series. Sponsored by Petes Park Place Tavern in Bronxville, the concert will be held at Park Place and will feature a local band and food from restaurants such as Il Bacio, Wild Ginger and Chantilly Patisserie.
Miele and her team are also gearing up to organize the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce's semiannual sidewalk sale and street fair in October.
I always believe you can give back to your community, and its important to be a contributor, said Miele, a Chester Heights resident. It offers the opportunity to bond with people.
As another of her projects, Miele is helping the Wheres Waldo in Bronxville? scavenger hunt, which is sponsored by the Womrath Bookshop. If local children can locate 16 of the 20 cards hidden in local stores, they will be entered in a raffle to win a Wheres Waldo deluxe book set, she said.
Miele's greatest goal for the Bronxville Chamber of Commerce is to preserve and promote the Bronxville business community, which she said is unique.
Our merchants care about their businesses and we want to preserve them, she said. There arent a lot of chain stores here, and thats a matter of pride for the village.
