Briarcliff's Young Wins Catholic Schools Golf Title

PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. — Fordham Prep freshman Cameron Young of Briarcliff shot a 2-under 70 on the James Baird Golf Course on Friday to capture the Catholic High Schools New York State championship.

He joined teammates Jackson Zepf and Garrett Weir in qualifying for the upcoming New York State Federation tournament. 

Zepf, of Thornwood, and Weir, who lives in Irvington, were also among the top six finishers in a 46-player field to advance to the Federation tournament of public, private, New York City and parochial school champions. It will be played June 10 at Bethpage Golf Course in Farmingdale, Long Island.

Zepf shot a 1-under 71 to place third overall and Weir a 6-over 78 to finish sixth overall in the Catholic Schools tournament.
