BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- The Briarcliff High School track team will send six of its athletes to the New York State Public Schools Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Cicero North High School in Syracuse.
Madeline Zimmerman, who qualified for the state meet in the long jump, triple jump and 4x400 meter relay events, will lead the contingent that includes fellow relay team runners Samantha Kirsch, Rebecca Bianco and Sharon Luan, 400-meter qualifier Sophie Feuer (also a relay runner) and 3,200-meter runner Stephan Shine.
The Bears athletes qualified for the state meet at Section 1 qualifying meets last on May 31 and June 1 among hundreds of local high school athletes who have competed in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties this spring season.
