19: Many Pushing For Mount Vernon Hospital To Stay Open Amid Outbreak
Many are calling on officials to call off plans to close Mount Vernon Hospital as the nation continues battling the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said that Montefiore applied for a Certificate of Need (CON) with the New York State Department of Health seeking approval to close the hospital this year. Man Rescued After Arm Becomes Stuck Between Rollers At Manufacturer
A 33-year-old man is in intensive care after his arm became stuck in a large machine while at work late Monday afternoon. Michael Avery of Wappingers Falls was rescued around 4:35 p.m. Monday at the Dunmore Corporation in Brewster, after his arm was caught between two large rollers in a machine, said New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. Once removed from the machine, by members of the Brewster Fire Department, Avery was transported via helicopter to Westchester Medical Center where he is in the Intensive Care Unit, said Hicks.
