High Winds, Cold Temperatures On The Way

High winds, cold temperatures and wintery precipitation are on their way to the Hudson Valley this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect until midnight tonight for the entire tri-state area. Southwest winds of up to 30 miles per hour with gusts of up to 50 are possible, which could lead to downed tree limbs and branches and subsequent power outages.

High winds can make driving difficult, especially for those driving high-profile vehicles including vans or SUVs.

Temperatures will dip down to about 25 degrees overnight before becoming sunny on Saturday with a high temperature of 34 degrees. Saturday night will be very cold, with a low of around 13 degrees.

Sunday is expected to be sunny and clear with a high of 27 degrees and on overnight low of about 15 degrees.

The Monday Martin Luther King J. holiday is expected to be sunny with a high of about 36 degrees but Monday night could bring snow showers, freezing rain and sleet that could continue into Tuesday afternoon. An overnight low of 28 degrees is expected.
