CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Photographers who wish to enter art into the Croton Council on the Arts 30th annual Photographers of Northern Westchester show have less than one month to have pieces framed and ready to hang, before the March drop-off date.
Usually on the order of 200 or more people come, a lot of the photographers come, other people come for whom this is an annual event. I think of it as kind of a community gathering, said Stephen Jacoby, a member of the Croton Council on the Arts.
All photographers from northern Westchester are invited to participate in the show. Robin Schwamb, event organizer, said more than 60 artists participated in last years show. Black-and-white, color, digital, sometimes we've even had like a collage of photographs. Its not a juried show, its invitational, and its usually pretty well attended, she said.
At its peak, the show had more than 90 participants, and more than 200 attendees.
To enter the show, drop off framed photographs at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Briarcliff, Croton and Ossining, 2021 Albany Post Road, Croton-on-Hudson, March 25-26. Drop-off hours are from 3-5 p.m. March 25 and 5-7 p.m. March 26.
The show will take place from 6-8 p.m. April 2-6 and 2-5 p.m. April 7-8. Most photographs are for sale, and a 30 percent donation to the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship is requested for those sold at the show.
There is a $10 fee for CCoA members exhibiting photographs, $15 for non-members exhibiting and $5 for students. Photographers may exhibit only one framed entry due to space limitations. Framed works should me a maximum of 20 inches by 24 inches. All photographs must have a side-to-side wire for hanging.
Computer-enhanced submissions must begin with your original photograph. If matting, cream or white colors are suggested. All works must be labeled on the back with your name, address, telephone number, title and price of work. It is suggested that new photographs are submitted, not ones that already have been exhibited in the show.
