Each year, the public is invited to submit photography and/or artwork to be considered for the official New York State Arbor Day Poster. The poster is a long-time tradition and posters have become collector's items for many. There are more than 100,000 posters printed for distribution to 3,500 schools throughout New York State, at the state fair, as well as many other venues.

The winning artist is honored at the annual state Arbor Day celebration at the New York State Capitol April 24, when the NYS Arbor Day Committee presents the governor with a framed Arbor Day poster.

This year, Kurzweil will be presenting a framed copy of the poster to Gov. Andrew Cuomo at a ceremony later this month. Besides going to Albany for the celebration, there also will be numerous poster signings. Kurzweil also will offer a very limited edition fine art print of the original photograph.
