Croton Songwriter Shares Her Music

CROTON, N.Y. — Bianca Mancinelli had a phase in her life when she was a practical person who studied astrophysics and taught astronomy. Now that the Croton mom has released her debut album, she’s woken up her artistic and creative side and found the connection between her love for science and passion for music, and sees music as a way to share, just as she did in her “more practical years.”

Mancinelli admits she didn’t just wake up one day and decide she was finally going to take up the musical hobby she had always had, but looking back, it certainly seems that way.

“This was not in my plan of what I was going to be doing at this age, so I really had to do some serious introspection, I had to decide what I really wanted to be when I grew up. I realized I don’t want to live with regrets, I have to try this, if I don’t, it’s like I’ll have an unfulfilled life," said Mancinelli, who goes by the stage name Bianca. She said her life was like the talking heads song “Once in a Lifetime” where she was left, five years ago wondering if this was really the path she wanted to be on.

The now songwriter had always been around music, with a mother who sang opera and an interest in music, Mancinelli never fully let go of the idea she would be in the industry someday. She began doing cover songs and sang different music including R&B, soul, jazz and blues. She took a leap of faith and began writing music, and in December 2010 recorded her album “Never Satisfied,” a title which some may attribute to her quest for fulfilling her life. However, Mancinelli said “Never Satisfied” isn’t about her, but it is a prime example of the type of songs she puts on her CD, which are about real life scenarios, some sarcasm, some sexy and some tongue in cheek humor.

“I realized that my passion is not just for creating the music but for sharing it. I love entertaining I love connecting with people I always entertain in my home. I just love seeing people and sharing something,” Mancinelli said. “I did that before when I was being a more practical person, and now I realized I can play and perform at different clubs and I can sing, and I can share that too. Now that I have this first CD, I just want to keep sharing it.”

Bianca had her CD release party at The Bitter End, and is continuing to share her music. Her next performance will be at The Duplex in New York City on March 10.
