BEDFORD, N.Y. -- Happy Birthday to Bedford's Rob Thomas.
Thomas, a Bedford resident, turns 45 on Sunday.
Thomas, a musician, songwriter and frontman for the band Matchbox Twenty was born Feb. 12, 1972, in Landstuhl, Germany.
With Matchbox Twenty, Thomas has released hit singles such as "Push," "3AM," "Unwell" and "She's So Mean."
The Songwriters Hall of Fame honored Thomas with its first Starlight Award in 2004, which recognizes young songwriters with a lasting influence in the music industry.
Thomas co-wrote and provided vocals for the chart-topping, three-time Grammy Award winning Santana hit "Smooth."
In addition to his solo releases and work with Matchbox Twenty, Thomas has also written songs for artists such as Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger and Marc Anthony.
