The latest winter storm to hit Westchester, Putnam and Rockland has veered east where blizzard conditions and up to two feet of snowfall accumulation are expected in much of New England.

Some roads and highways across the area iced up Sunday night, causing slippery and hazardous conditions, after a storm dumped snow and sleet throughout much of the day.

While Monday will become mostly sunny in this area, strong winds which could gust up to 45 miles per hour or more will mark a day in which many schools and school districts have announced delays for Monday as a result of Sunday's storm. For a rundown of school delays, click here.

The strongest winds will be from around sunrise Monday until late Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

At 8 a.m. Monday, there already was a report of a downed tree and wires, causing the closure of Route 22 in Bedford. For more on that, click here.

Strong winds may blow down other tree limbs and power lines. Isolated power outages are expected.

A Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday for Westchester, Rockland and Putnam. A Winter Storm Warning for Dutchess expires at 7 p.m. Monday.

After a cloudy start, skies will become mostly sunny with a high temperature at or around the freezing mark. But the wind-chill factor will make it feel more like it's between 15 and 20 degrees.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 35 and wind-chill values between 10 and 20.
