Hudson Valley residents may be able to go through the end of the traditionally steamy month of August without having to turn the air conditioners on again.

Waves of cooler Canadian air will bring temperatures well below normal through month's end here and in the Northeast.

Daytime highs will be more like the early fall, ranging in the low to mid-70s in the day and in the 50s overnight with partly sunny to sunny skies each day the next week.

That's about 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit below normal, according to AccuWeather.com.

The average high temperature in New York City for the last week of August is in the low 80s.
