A low pressure system moving through the area could bring a wintry mix that could cause hazardous driving conditions to much of the Hudson Valley late Sunday afternoon with some areas seeing accumulating snow.

Temperatures will be cold enough for the precipitation to begin as snow in most spots, but it's expected to transition to the wintry mix and rain overnight into Monday morning south of I-84 as temperatures rise.

Periods of snow Sunday night could result in accumulations of between a trace to one inch in Southern Westchester, 1 to 3 inches in Northern Westchester and Rockland and 2 to 4 inches in Putnam and Dutchess counties, where the changeover to rain may not occur until around dawn on Monday. The changeover to rain elsewhere is expected to occur sometime between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Rain is expected until the early afternoon Monday with the day's high temperature between 42 and 45 degrees.
