But there will be an abrupt change overnight with showers, heavy rain and thunderstorms expected.
The precipitation is not expected to arrive until after 11 p.m. in most of the Hudson Valley, according to AccuWeather.com.
Dry air in place much of the weekend will try to hold the rain off Monday evening in the New York City area, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.
"While a shower cannot be ruled out during the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks in New York City, the steadiest and heaviest rain is likely to hold off until after the show is over," Sosnowski said.
Patchy fog should set in after 11 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm will become likely as midnight nears, and some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent with new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible, the weather service said.
Areas farther north, including Dutchess, should expect less rain from the system but also could see thunderstorms.
Showers remain likely, with a thunderstorm chance continuing, through around 8 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a chance of showers and storms through 11 a.m.
It will gradually become sunny Tuesday with a high in the low 80s.
