Severe Thunderstorms Possible In Armonk

A cold front moving across the area Wednesday afternoon will bring with it severe thunderstorms, with areas farther north in the Hudson Valley expected to be affected the most.

Patchy showers will continue through around noontime on what will be a mostly cloudy day with a high in the low 70s.

The storm chance arrives just in time for the evening commute with the showers and thunderstorms possible starting after 4 p.m. and continuing until midnight.

The highest likelihood for severe storms is in the area shaded in yellow in the image above, including Dutchess County.

The greatest threats from these thunderstorms will be potentially damaging wind gusts of 58 mph or greater, and or large hail one inch in diameter or greater, according to the National Weather Service. 

After a mostly sunny day Thursday with a high in the upper 70s, there is a chance of thunderstorms Friday afternoon.
