A flood advisory was issued in Westchester until 2:30 p.m. and the thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
Strong thunderstorms with frequent cloud-to-ground lightning were expected to move northeast over Westchester through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Winds of up to 35 mph are also forecasted.
The storm is expected to break the humidity and bring cooler temperatures, the meteorologists said.
