Don't let Wednesday's sunny skies fool you, it's time to pull out the umbrella as heavy rain and storms head for the area along with a cold front that will bring cooler, but drier air to the region, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms and heavy rain should move into the area before noon Thursday and continue through 4 p.m. with a 60 percent chance of rain. Highs will reach into the low 70s, NWS officials said.
Rain and thunderstorms will continue into the evening, with the best chance of thunderstorms coming after 4 p.m. with a 60 percent of rain continuing until at least 11 p.m.
Sunny skies are predicted to return Friday with cooler temperatures in the low 50s. Temperatures will drop almost 20 degrees Friday night with a low around 37 degrees, NWS officials said.
