After a mild and wet Tuesday, with rain starting around noontime and continuing through the evening with daytime highs in the mid-50s, morning showers Wednesday will give way to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon and a high around 45.
There will be more sun Thursday with a high in the low 40s.
Then comes the snow chance as temperatures fall.
There is a chance of a mix of snow and rain Friday morning before temps climb to the mid- to upper-30s in the afternoon.
As evening temps fall, a mix of snow and rain is possible again after nightfall through 11 p.m. Friday.
Saturday will be continued cold, with a high in the mid- to upper-30s and a chance of snow before 8 a.m., then a chance of snow showers between until 1 p.m.
The snow chance returns Saturday night and again Sunday morning.
It's too early to project possible accumulations.
"Unlike previous events earlier this fall, the cold arriving at midweek will be slow to leave," said AccuWeather.com Long-Range Meteorologist Max Vido. "Through mid-December and potentially right up to the winter solstice (on Dec. 21), residents across the eastern U.S. will have to contend with the cold weather."
