"Severe drought" conditions that existed less than a month ago have been downgraded to "moderate drought" status in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties and, even further, to "abnormally dry" in Rockland, according to the National Weather Service.
The image above shows the before and after images with respect to what "was" a lack of rainfall across the region. A lot of ground has been made up with respect to rainfall across our area as a result of several separate storms that passed through the area in March.
The conditions could abate even further on Wednesday when showers and thunderstorms may arrive.
Tuesday's high temperature will soar to near 80 degrees under mainly sunny skies.
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Wednesday and continuing through the mid-afternoon. Wednesday's high temperature will be near 70 degrees.
