About an inch of snow was expected through the day Thursday. Two to five more inches of snow could be on the ground by the time the storm moves out Friday, the National Weather Service says.

"Period of light snow and rain today will become all snow this evening and continue though tonight before tapering off by noon Friday," the National Weather Service says. "Moderate snow may fall at times."

The wet snow could make travel difficult. Winds will blow from 10 to 20 mph, with gusts of up to 25 mph, the National Weather Service says.

A flood advisory remains in effect for coastal areas until 9 a.m., Thursday. A winter weather advisory is in effect until noon, Friday.
