Friday will see a chance of showers followed by a sunny Saturday -- with high temperatures in the mid 50s each day -- before the potential for a major storm to start spring and the week on Sunday, the first day of spring, and into Monday.

Significant snow accumulation is possible. The snow could mix with rain, especially along the coast, for periods of time.

The storm, which is moving to the Northeast from the South, is likely to bring accumulating snow from the I-95 corridor to part of the Appalachians, with the heaviest snow across New England, according to AccuWeather.com.

Between 6 and 12 inches of accumulation by Monday morning is possible.

The exact track of the storm is still not clear, and accumulation projections could change.
