The closure was put into effect by the Department of Transportation due to traffic safety concerns regarding loose stones (non-structural) on the bridge overpass of the roadway, according to North Castle Police.
This closure will be in effect for several weeks. Traffic barricades have been put into place to close this section of roadway.
Motorist should not try to go around the traffic control devices, police said.
The southbound lanes of the BRP Access Road will remain open.
Motorists should use alternate routes during the closure. Suggested alternate routes from the northbound BRP include using Fisher Lane or Virginia Road to access Route 22.
