12 Firefighters Injured While Battling Blaze At Westchester Apartment Building A dozen firefighters suffered injuries while fighting a devastating blaze in Westchester that left around 20 people without homes.  The incident began at around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, when the third floor of a six-unit apartment building at 122 Downing St. in Yonkers caught on fire, according to Yonkers Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Citrone.  Arriving fire crews found flames blowing out of the top three windows, threatening an identical residential building next to it. Fire Breaks Out At House In Northern Westchester A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said.  Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire visible from the wood chimney chase on the exterior of the home.
