Multi-Million Dollar Scheme: 8 NYers Accused Of Scamming Government For Services Never Provided
Eight New Yorkers who owned, operated, or were employees of several transportation companies have been accused of scamming the government out of millions of dollars for services never provided.
The indictments were unsealed on Long Island at federal court in Central Islip on Tuesday, June 11.
Seven of the eight are from Long Island and the other from New York City:
Noman Ahmed, age 37, Port Jefferson Station;
Adnan Arshad, also known as “Eddie,” age 45, Mount Sinai;

A 30-year-old man faces kidnapping and cyberstalking charges after posing as a nurse on a dating application and brutalizing several women he met in Westchester and New York City, federal officials announced.
An eight-count indictment charging New Jersey resident Herman Brightman of West New York, also known as "Nazir Griffiths" and "Nazir Luckett," with kidnapping, cyberstalking, and more has been returned by a grand jury, the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced on Monday, Dec. 11.

27-Year-Old Charged With Burglarizing Homes In Northern Westchester, Police Say
A 27-year-old man has been nabbed for burglarizing two homes in Northern Westchester, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was charged with burglarizing two homes in Briarcliff Manor on Saturday, Aug. 5, the village's police department announced on Tuesday, Aug. 29.
The suspect, who is from the Bronx, was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary in addition to other charges, police said.
The investigation into the burglaries is still ongoing, and more arrests may be made, authorities added.

Westchester Man Drove Drunk New Year's Eve On NYC Bridge, Police Say
A man from Westchester County is charged with driving drunk on a bridge in New York City on New Year's Eve, police said.
On Saturday, Dec. 31, around 12:40 a.m., police pulled over a 2020 Dodge Durango that had violated traffic laws in the area of the Henry Hudson Parkway Bridge in the Bronx, state police announced on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
The driver, identified as Mount Vernon resident George Greenaway, age 47, was then arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Greenaway was then taken to Manhattan Central Booking, police said.
Suspect Nabbed In Connection To Fatal Stabbing Of Hudson Valley Doctor
A New York man who has been on an alleged murder spree has been nabbed for the slashing death of a popular Hudson Valley pediatrician, as well as attacks on several other people.
Dr. Bruce Maurice Henry who had a thriving practice in Rockland County in Nyack was found dead with multiple stab wounds on Friday, Dec. 23, at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, said the New York City Police Department.
Henry, age 60, of the Bronx, is the last person killed by Roland Codrington, age 35, of New York, who was captured on Saturday, Dec. 24, in the doctor's Mercedes, NYPD said.

After a three-week trial, an out-of-state man has been found guilty of charges connected to a brutal Westchester home invasion in 2018.
At around 7:30 a.m. April 23, 2018, at around 7:30 a.m., Confessor Soto of Fayetteville, North Carolina, entered a residence in Yonkers on Leighton Avenue while armed with a handgun and zip ties, and tied up the 82-year-old homeowner, according to Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah,

A Westchester County man has been found guilty in the murder-for-hire killing of his own father, who was shot to death while sitting in a McDonald’s drive-thru.
Anthony Zottola, age 44, of Larchmont, was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn Wednesday, Oct. 19, of murder-for-hire conspiracy in the October 2018 killing of 71-year-old Sylvester Zottola in the Bronx.

Five people are facing prostitution charges after an investigation into a Westchester County spa.
On Friday, Oct. 14, New Rochelle Police concluded their investigation into the Green Rivage Spa, located at 514 Main St. (Route 1), and found that the business had been engaging in prostitution, police said.

A man has been sentenced for stabbing his wife to death during a dispute at her Westchester home.
Kirk Fisher, age 60, of the Bronx, was sentenced on Thursday, Sept. 29, to 20 years in state prison for killing his wife Kaya Green, at her Mount Vernon home, said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah.
“This is a devastating case of domestic violence and we hope the family of Kaya Green has some sense of closure,” Rocah said.

Fugitive Had 30 Pounds Of Fentanyl In Home Next To Daycare In NY, DEA Says
Federal agents apprehended a 44-year-old fugitive in New York, where they say he was trafficking large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl.
Benito Bello, from Lawrence, Massachusetts, who also goes by the name Zuriel Ayala Rodriguez, was arrested in the Bronx on Wednesday, Aug. 10, the DEA said.
Agents said Bello had a kilo of cocaine and 14 kilos of the synthetic opioid inside the home where a minor child also lived.
