Brush Fire Breaks Out At Kensico Reservoir Peninsula
A brush fire broke out at the Kensico Reservoir peninsula on Monday afternoon, prompting a heavy response from first responders as temperatures topped 90 degrees in the Hudson Valley. First responders were dispatched to the area shortly before 3:45 p.m. on Monday afternoon, just off of Route 120 in Armonk. Local residents reported seeing police cars, fire trucks and helicopters in the area, battling the brush fire. Officials said the fire reached a span of approximately 30 feet by 30 feet. A turtle took its time crossing busy Route 22 in Armonk on Wednesday afternoon, leading a concerned citizen to alert law enforcement officials to ensure its safety. Officers from the North Castle Police Department were dispatched to a stretch of the southbound lanes of Route 22 near Route 120 shortly after 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, where there was a report of a turtle in the roadway potentially in danger. Separate I-684 Crashes Snarl Evening Commute
This story has been updated. Separate crashes caused stop-and-go delays on I-684 during the Tuesday evening commute. A crash reported at 6 p.m. at Route 22 (Exit 3) in Armonk led to stop-and-go traffic back to Route 120 (Exit 2). An earlier crash caused stop-and-go delays on northbound I-684 at the junction of I-84 during part of the commute. The crash, reported at 4:30 p.m. in Brewster, caused gridlock back to Hardscrabble Road. Delays of 20 minutes or more were reported.
